Advance Notice
Advance notice is the minimum number of days a guest must book ahead of their check-in date - a lead-time rule that stops a booking request from landing the same day, or the next day, with no time for the host to prepare. A zero-day setting allows same-day bookings; higher settings push the earliest bookable date further out.
Advance notice differs from a booking window: a booking window caps how far in the future a guest can book, while advance notice caps how soon before arrival they're allowed to book at all. The two rules can be combined to define a booking calendar's full open range.
Hosts who need lead time to prepare, coordinate a cleaner, or simply want a buffer against last-minute surprises typically set advance notice above zero; hosts who want to capture same-day demand keep it at zero.
Why it matters for hosts
On RentalBeam, advance notice sets a minimum number of days between today and check-in, with the option to show that window as closed on the calendar widget or simply leave it un-offered without appearing closed.
