Changeover Day
A changeover day (or turnover day) is the date one guest checks out and, often the same day, the next guest checks in. It's the tightest point in a rental's schedule, since cleaning, laundry, and any repairs have to happen in the gap between the two stays.
Some hosts fix changeover to a single day of the week (Saturday-to-Saturday stays, common for weekly vacation rentals) to make cleaning and staffing predictable. Others allow any day but build in a buffer so back-to-back bookings never share the same calendar day.
A same-day changeover isn’t always achievable, especially for larger properties or a small cleaning team - which is why many hosts prefer at least a partial-day or full-day gap instead of a strict same-day turnover.
Why it matters for hosts
A prep-time buffer is how hosts control changeover on RentalBeam: setting a buffer of one or more days between bookings blocks that gap from being booked by the next guest, giving the host guaranteed turnover time without a strict same-day changeover rule.
